BLUPAINT

First there was the song, then there was the band. This might sound odd but it’s exactly how Blupaint, centred around singer/guitarist Sebastiaan van Ravenhorst, came about in the spring of 2014. ‘The song ‘High’ was like a blueprint for the kind of music I wanted to make. That’s where the band’s name originates from,’ Sebastiaan explains. ‘Unfortunately, the name Bluprint already existed. So I came up with another name, which was Blupaint.’

An indie rock band like Blupaint is a rare thing. With their quirky lyrics and powerful hooks these four guys from Amsterdam really stand out in the genre. Although clearly inspired by bands like Kings of Leon and The 1975, their refreshing sound is one of a kind.

In December 2014 the band of brothers recorded three individual tracks. Once published online in March 2015, the songs got noticed by 3FM, Radio Mortale and Cortonville, reaching the top two positions in the Indie Chart. Shortly after this overwhelming response the band released a music video for the song ‘Save Me’ that’s been acknowledged by numerous international indie blogs.

2015 has been a busy year for Blupaint. After a successful Popronde tour, they reached the finals of the ‘Amsterdamse Popprijs’, playing prestigious venues such as Paradiso, Melkweg, and Sugarfactory. To end that rewarding year the band returned to the studio in December to record their long awaited debut EP, which will be released in 2016.

In February 2016 they were awarded Best Band in the ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland’, one of Holland’s major music contests. Shortly afterwards they appeared on the very popular Dutch television show ‘De wereld draait door’, and were proclaimed ‘3FM Serious Talent’ by Dutch national radio station 3FM. With such a smashing start of the year and a debut EP in the making, 2016 is definitely looking fabulous for Blupaint.
